New to this so bear with us while we get started.

We, there are 5 of us in this menage, are an Coastguard Operations Room Team in a South UK station who are becoming increasingly disillusioned with our work. We enjoy the hard work, arranging Search and Rescue for those in trouble on or in the sea or on the coast, but the bullsh*t that goes with it is unbelieveable. We did say it was a "gripe" We are fed up with annoying each other with our complaints so we thought we would share them with the world.

This year has been pretty typical. 1,051 incidents so far, assisted 1,586 people and rescued 942 and we are just 1 of 3 such stations on the South coast. We work closely with the Police, Fire Service and the Ambulance Service.

HM Coastguard (HMCG) is a part of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) an executive agency of the Department for Transport. In other words, in much the same way as the DVLA in Swansea.

We have a new Chief Executive. One might think that with the maritime history and tradition that we have in this country that we might be able to find a suitable ex seafarer to fill this post. A retired senior Naval officer perhaps? but no, We get a man from a cancer charity who knows as much about ships and the sea as I do about brain surgery!

If that wasn't bad enough, the Executive Board doesn't even have a serving Coastguard represented.

Sorry must go...will write again soon
